European Studies (Greece)
European Studies is an Honours (Double Major) Interdisciplinary BA program in the Faculty of Arts. European Studies majors must also declare a major in a free-standing discipline in the Faculty of Arts, such as Hellenic Studies, History, Political Science, Anthropology, or Economics. To complete the European Studies major, students must complete six full-course equivalents (36 credits) from the European Studies list, all distinct from the courses in their other major. These European Studies courses must include the following:
1. HUMA 2195 9.0 Defining Europe: Introduction to European Studies (See course description given later under list of program courses). Note: For purposes of meeting program requirements, this course and all other nine credit Foundations courses will count as six credits towards the major in European Studies.
2. Thirty credits, including six credits at the 4000-level, chosen from the list of courses in Modern Greek Studies.
Note: Students must complete 18 credits at the 4000-level for an Honours BA degree, normally 12 in their other major and 6 in European Studies.
3. Students must also satisfy a Modern Greek language requirement. They may do so by completing one full-course equivalent (6 credits) in Modern Greek or by passing a competency test. A maximum of two language courses (12 credits) will be counted toward the major.
