Project Description (updated November 2002)

MERKAZ i.t. L’MORIM is a co-operative venture involving the York University Center for Jewish Studies, the York University Faculty of Education and the UJA Federation Board of Jewish Education of Greater Toronto.

Our Goal
To enhance the professional development of Jewish teachers in Canada and abroad by providing high quality, online, accredited courses via the World Wide Web.

Our Objectives
The project aims to develop quality courses which address identified Jewish teacher needs. We intend to draw on best practices in web-based distance learning, and the latest available technology, to establish and maintain a state-of-the-art distance learning program.

Experiences gained will be applied to other Jewish education programs, which can be enhanced through distance learning. A key component of our program will be the establishment of a web-based Jewish teacher resource centre, which will support this Project as well as other teacher education programs.
