Degree Credit Exclusions (DCE): This course is similar to the following course and is considered a DCE. An Introduction to Political Science. McGraw Hill. Thomas Bateman, Manuel Mertin and David Thomas, eds., 2004 (third edition). Braving the New World. Readings in Contemporary Politics. Scarborough, ONT: Thomson and Nelson. Course Requirements, evaluation and due dates: Where to hand in assignments: Note: the Department drop box is only to be used for late papers. The short exams will take place in class during the tutorials. If you miss them without an official excuse, you will not be allowed to take a make-up. Please note that make-ups are scheduled for the end of the term, which is a very hectic time of the year when all other exams are also taking place. Participation – regular attendance is expected from all registered students, both to the tutorials and to the classes. Active attendance will constitute 10 percent of your term grade. Note: Students who encounter extenuating circumstances during the term which may interfere with the successful completion of exams or other course assignments should discuss the matter with their tutorial leader or course instructor as soon as possible. Students with physical, psychiatric or learning disabilities may request reasonable accommodations in teaching style or evaluation methods, as outlined in Appendix A the Senate Policy on Students with Special Needs. They should advise the director at the earliest opportunity, so that appropriate arrangements may be with the assistance of the Office for Persons with Disabilities, the Counselling Development Centre or the Learning Disabilities Program.
