Appointments can be made in person at the Student Academic Centre
reception in 103 Central Square, or by telephone by calling (416)

We offer advice and guidance on academic planning; including how
to choose a major, developing a program of study, and general information
on the programs available through the Faculty of Arts, as well as information
on degree and program requirements. Advising is also offered on academic
standing, and we can provide strategies and guidelines for continued
success.
The Faculty of Arts Student Academic Centre houses the Joint Program
in Communication Arts, and ESL advising. Faculty of Arts students interested
in Education, Law, or a combined major or minor program with other
Faculties at York may consult with an advisor at the Centre for initial
inquiries regarding these programs. In addition to the services available
at the Student Academic Centre, students are encouraged to seek advice
from their major department(s), College Academic Advisor, the Centre
for Academic Writing, Career
Center, and the Counselling
and Development Centre when developing their academic career plan.
First Year Advising
Advising for newly admitted, first-year
students is coordinated by the Faculty
of Arts Student Academic Centre and
includes: orientation to the University;

shared responsibility of the Student
Academic Centre, individual departments,
divisions and programs of the Faculty
as well as the Faculty affiliated Colleges.
Students should contact these offices
throughout the year for advice and
information related to their academic
career including academic performance,
degree program and requirements and
career planning. |
Upper Level Advising
Students who transfer from another
post-secondary institution may be eligible
